Requisitions

Page Description

Use the Requisitions page to view and print the details for the order. When creating requisitions, Copia applies the requisition format selected for the host in the Hosts administration page, although it always uses the standard requisition format when it creates summary requisitions.

Note that you must have a PDF print driver installed in order to view and print requisitions. If you do not have a PDF print driver installed, Copia displays a page with instructions on how to obtain a PDF print driver. If you do not wish to install a PDF driver, click the Back button to return to the previous page.

Printing or Faxing Requisitions

  1. The Requisitions page previews all of the requisitions that you may print for the order.
  2. By default, Copia generates a requisition for each lab that will perform testing for the order, as well as a requisition that contains a summary of all testing for all laboratories. A Copia System Administrator may configure the default settings for these checkboxes in the Locations administration page. In addition, a Copia System Administrator may enable the option to print separate requisitions for each sample on an order. You may accept the default or choose which requisitions to print.
  3. Select or clear the checkbox(es) to indicate which requisitions you wish to print, and then click Refresh. You must select at least one checkbox to enable the Print button after you refresh the page.
  4. Copia updates the page to show only the requisitions for the selected lab(s), samples, and/or the summary requisition based on your selections.
  5. Use the scroll bar on the right side of the page to view the all of the requisitions. Copia prints "END OF REQUISITION" at the end of each requisition.

If the necessary INI file setting is enabled, then Copia includes the CC Copia user recipients (added on the Add/Edit Recipient page during order entry) on the requisition. The CC names appear in the "Results to:" field, just below the Order Date field in the header. Note that Copia does not include the ordering physician's name or any CC external recipients in this field.

In order to show patient comments on standard requisitions and custom requisitions, the "Display on requisition and manifest" option must be selected for the comment on the Patient Comments page. For custom requisitions, you must also add the content type "Patient Comments" to the requisition header when defining the requisition template. See the Admin: Layout Templates topic.

Depending on the administration settings for your signed in location, Copia may automatically print a requisition when you save a collected order.

Depending on the administration settings, Copia may include patients' secondary insurance information, if available, on requisitions. Note that when this is option is enabled, Copia prints two columns of insurance information, though both could be blank, if no information exists.

Depending on the administration settings, the ABN column on the requisition may display "N/A" for orders with non-Medicare insurance as the primary insurance on the order.

Depending on the administration settings for the hosts receiving the requisition, Copia may include time zone abbreviations after all dates. The summary requisition also shows the time zone abbreviation after dates if there is a requisition to print for a host that has the "Show time zone on requisition" option enabled. The time zone on the requisition is based on the time zone of the person printing the requisition.

Depending on the administration settings for the host receiving the requisition, Copia may display a bar code of the sample ID next to the sample ID field.

  6. Click OK to close the Requisitions page and return to the preceding page.
  7. Click Print to open the standard print dialogs. Change the print settings as desired, and then click Print. Copia will print the requisition(s) according to the settings you established in the print dialogs (number of copies, printer destination, etc.). Note that you must have the necessary security right to print requisitions for complete (or final) orders.
  8. Click Fax to open the Fax Recipient page, where you may select the user, location, or host recipient for the fax. See the Fax Recipient topic. Note that you must have the necessary security right associated with your assigned role to fax requisitions. Note that you may only select one lab when faxing requisitions, and Copia will include the summary copy in the fax transmission, if you select the Summary Copy checkbox.
