Admin: Event Log

Page Description

Use the Event Log administration page to view and store event notifications. In order to store a notification in the Event Log, add the Event Log as a recipient for the notification, and then save. When the notification is triggered, it will then be added to the list of events in the Event Log. The Event Log administration page allows the user to filter which events are shown. Events can be filtered by a date range, the category of the event, the description of the event, and/or by searching the event message for the text which it contains. Event notifications created from the Event Notifications administration page, the Result Evaluation Rules administration page, the Order Entry Rules administration page, and the Client Services Rules administration page can all be stored in the Event Log.

Accessing the Event Log Filter

  1. Click the Event Log administration page submenu link to view the event log filter.
  2. When viewing the filter, you may select a start/end date, event category, description, and/or message filters that Copia uses to create the list of events to display in the log. See "Setting the Event Log Filter" below.

Setting the Event Log Filter

  1. Select the Start and End time settings for the filter. Copia only searches for events recorded after the start date and time and before the end date and time. Click the Clear button to reset the fields to their default values. If you enter an invalid date or time, Copia resets the dates to the default values. The default start date is the beginning of the current day, and default end date is the current time of the current day. Click the Now button to insert the current date/time into the fields.
  2. Select an option from the Event Category drop-down field to limit the list based on the event category. Select "User" to indicate a specific user, or "All" to include all users.
  3. Select an option from the Event Description drop-down field to limit the list based on event descriptions. Select a specific option to indicate a specific event description, or "All" to include all event descriptions. Note that if you select a specific event category, but do not specify search criteria, then Copia limits the display by event category type only. If search criteria are present, then Copia limits the display by event category type and the search criteria, matching only those fields that contain descriptions.
  4. Enter one or more characters in the Message field to have Copia search for that message text in the Event Log. This information is displayed in the Message column in your search results. See "Reviewing the Event Log" below.
  5. Remember that each criterion you use further limits the number of possible matching events. If you use multiple criteria, then Copia will only display those events that match all of the parameters you have specified.
  6. Once you have the desired settings for the filter, Copia will refresh automatically to show events based on your filter configuration. Note that Copia selects "All" by default for all fields (if you did not specify a value) and defaults to displaying all records for the current day up to the current time. Copia updates the list in the Event Log section of the page. See "Reviewing the Event Log" below.

Reviewing the Event Log

  1. Once you have set the filter criteria and the log has refreshed, Copia updates the list in the bottom section of the page. See "Setting the Event Log Filter" above.
  2. If the list is longer than one page, use the Page links, located below the list of events, to navigate through the list. If there are more page links than can fit on the page at once, Copia displays the Page field. Enter a number in this field and press the Enter key on the keyboard to immediately open the selected page.
  3. To modify the list of changes, adjust the filter criteria and the page will refresh automatically. See "Setting the Event Log Filter" above.
  4. Each change is listed with the following:
  5. You may sort the displayed events by clicking the heading for the Date/Time, Category, Description, or Message columns. The up and down arrows indicate whether the current sort order is descending (\/) or ascending (/\).
