Creating or Modifying Direct Printing Setup Details
  1. Use the Direct Printing Setup section of the Direct Printing page to set up your PDF reader settings so that Copia can send PDF reports to the defined printers.
  2. Copia attempts to automatically enter the path to the Acrobat Reader executable file. You may modify this path, if desired.
  3. Once you have defined the path to the Acrobat Reader, click the Test button to have Copia verify that it can access the file.
  4. In the Acrobat Delay field, enter the amount of time the system will give Acrobat to print a file. As with other delivery methods, Copia records the result delivery in the Outbound Queue page. If files are ending up in the outbound queue, but frequently not printing, then increase this number.  If the system is getting behind on the number of documents it must print, decrease this number.
  5. To edit the printing setup fields, highlight or delete text already displayed in the field, then modify as desired.
  6. Once your PDF settings are established, add one or more printers to the list of available printers for direct printing. See "Viewing, Setting Up, and Testing Defined Printers" below.
  7. Click Cancel to return to the System Defaults page without saving any changes.
  8. Click OK to record changes and return to the System Defaults page.

Viewing, Setting Up, and Testing Defined Printers
  1. Use the Printers section of the Direct Printing page to add one or more printers to the list of available printers for direct printing.
  2. The page contains a list of up to ten Printers, the Practice to which they are assigned (if any), and their Active status. If the list is longer than one page, use the Page links, located below the list of printers, to navigate through the list. If there are more page links than can fit on the page at once, Copia displays the Page field. Enter a number in this field and press the Enter key on the keyboard to immediately open the selected page.
  3. To view active printers, select the Show active only checkbox. You set the inactive/active status in the Direct Printing Printer Setup section of this page (see below).
  4. To narrow the list of displayed printers, or to find a specific printer, use the Search option. Click the List option to return to the full list of printers. See "Searching for a Printer" below.
  5. To add a printer to the list, click the Add Printer button to access the Direct Printing Printer Setup section. See "Setting up Direct Printing Printers" below.
  6. Click the Printer name to access the Direct Printing Printer Setup section to view or modify the settings for a printer on the list. See "Setting up Direct Printing Printers" below.
  7. Once you have added a printer, you must test the settings to make certain they work. Click the Test button and click OK on the confirmation dialog to send a test page to the printer. Please note that processing this may take several seconds. If the test page you receive on the printer lists the correct printer name and path, then the printer is configured correctly. If it does not, verify your settings and perform another test.
  8. Click Cancel to return to the System Defaults page without saving any changes.
  9. Click OK to record changes and return to the System Defaults page.

Searching for a Printer

  2. If your search generates one or more matches, the matching printers are displayed with printer name, associated practice, and active status when the page refreshes. Select the desired printer to view the details. See "Viewing, Setting Up, and Testing Defined Printers" above.
  3. If no search results are found or if the desired printer is not found, search again, or you may create a new printer. See "Viewing, Setting Up, and Testing Defined Printers" above.
  4. Click the List option to view the full list of printers. See "Viewing, Setting Up, and Testing Defined Printers" above.

Setting Up Direct Printing Printers
  1. Use the Direct Printing Printer Setup section of the Direct Printing page to define or edit the settings for the new or selected printers used for direct printing.
  2. Enter the Printer Name, which is how Copia refers to this printer throughout the program, such as when selecting a printer to deliver a report to.
  3. Enter the Printer Path, which is the path to where the server connects to the system and is how the operating system refers to the printer (e.g., \\server\folder).
  4. Click the List button to open the Printer Listing page where you may view and select a printer from the list of printers connected to your system. If the printer you wish to print to is not listed, you may manually enter the path to the desired printer in this page (see above). See the Printer Listing topic.
  5. If desired, click the Search button next to the Practice field to select a practice for the printer. If you select a practice, only locations and users belonging to that practice may use that printer. If you do not select a practice, then locations and users from all practices may use it. You may click the Clear button to remove the selected practice and make the printer usable for all practices. Once you have entered the printer settings, click Save to record your changes and return to the Printers section of the Direct Printing page, or click Cancel to clear your changes and return to the Printers section of the Direct Printing page.
